TOP FIVE TUESDAY ♡ BOOKS I’VE BEEN FORCED INTO READING

Hello friends and happy Tuesday! So, I just went to the bookstore a couple hours ago, as one typically does on a Tuesday night, and I ended up buying more books than I intended because someone told me about a book I should read so obviously I bought it. That got me thinking and gave me a bit of inspiration for today’s list. Now I know the title seems a bit misleading so I should probably clarify that when I say “forced” I mean it in a relatively joking matter. It’s more like how someone really talked up a book to be and because of that I ended up adding it to my list. I probably wouldn’t have read these books if I hadn’t been forced into it so it’s all good.

Here is today’s Top Five Tuesday: Books I’ve Been Forced Into Reading!

1. GRIDIRON SERIES BY JEN FREDERICK

I literally had no intention of reading this series until a friend of mine sent me a description of one of the characters and was like “look, it’s a character you’d love!” Am I mad? No because I really enjoyed this series. But if my friend hadn’t done that to me I probably never would’ve touched it and gotten to experience the greatness that is Matty Iverson. I miss him, I hope he’s eating well.

2. THREE DARK CROWNS BY KENDARE BLAKE

I don’t remember if I had intended to read this book but I have a group of friends that akin ourselves to a bit of our own kind of book club and this was one of the books that we all decided to read together. Granted, one of us had started this book and basically told the other ones that we also had to read this so I believe that’s how it all started. It was a great read and I’m so into this series so shout out to my friend for bringing this up in our group chat.

3. THIRTEEN REASONS WHY BY JAY ASHER

This one I was forced into reading because I had watched the show on Netflix and thought it was interesting so that kind of brought my attention to the book. It was fine, not anything spectacular and was for sure outdated but I really don’t think I would’ve read it if I never watched the show. Sadly, that’s the kind of person I am and I’m fine with it.

4. THE CRUEL PRINCE BY HOLLY BLACK

This one I’m blaming entirely on Goodreads and the blogging community because you guys just would not shut up about this book! I saw it everywhere and clearly that meant there was something special about this book. After reading it I definitely saw how good it was and deserved the hype so I guess I can forgive you guys and your inability to shut up; I appreciate it.

5. THE RAVEN CYCLE BY MAGGIE STIEFVATER

I have many mixed feelings on this series and I kinda regret reading it but I can blame this one on Tumblr. A lot of people I followed on there constantly posted beautiful edits about this series and I always saw people crying and praising how good this was so they sucked me in with all their good words and pretty editing skills. I can’t say I agree with them nor do I get the hype and it makes this one feel a bit more forced. I gave into peer pressure and I didn’t entirely care for it.

Well, those are the top books I’ve been forced into reading! I can’t be the only person this has happened to so let me know in the comments which books you’ve been forced into reading like I have and if you enjoyed it or not!

Until next time,
