Hello friends and happy Friday!

I’m actually very excited about this week’s character. I’m usually relatively excited about my characters but this is one that has essentially been on my mind all week long. If you’ve followed me on any social media, like my Instagram or Goodreads, then you can probably guess who I’ve picked. It’s definitely a new character and they became my favourite so fast that it’s a bit insane. But they’re so interesting and complex and one that not only deserves love and protection but requires it. I’m just buzzing with love for them.

This week’s character is…..

*drum roll*

Kage Tatsumi!

Not to be all “I literally just talked about him on my blog yesterday,” but I did. Anyways. If you haven’t read Julie Kagawa’s amazing YA fantasy Shadow of the Fox then you don’t know the greatness that is Kage Tatsumi and how much I love him. Basic facts are that he’s a member of the Kage clan, which is known as the Shadow Clan, and has been entrusted with a cursed sword that allows him to kill demons. It’s why he’s been nicknamed as The Demonslayer. Tatsumi is the type of character that’s been brought up only to be a weapon to use against evil and demons throughout Japan and has been taught to be void of all emotion and feelings. He is nothing but a weapon and a killer. Not to be dramatic or anything, but I love him and he is exactly the kind of character I look for. There is so much to dive into with him and I feel like his relationship and influence of Yumeko will open not just his mind to other possibilities but his character as well. I love when we get this stoic, “will definitely kill you with a look” character that slowly begins to change because of the happy-go-lucky character that they have no choice but to spend time with. Oh, and did I mention that because of his sword, Kamigoroshi, which is basically inhabited by a demon, that the demon also lives inside of Tatsumi’s mind and he constantly struggles to fight him off? Yep. He’s got a lot of problems and layers and complexity to him and I’m all for it. He might be the all powerful demonslayer, but I think there’s a teddy bear just waiting to be brought out of him. All I know is that Kage Tatsumi deserves everything, but mostly love and hugs because he doesn’t know what it’s like to be hugged or loved.

[“You’re not going to fight that giant thing, are you?”] “I’ll be fine.” I dropped my hand to the hilt of my sword, feeling excitement and bloodlust pulse through me. “This is what I do.”

Until next time,
