MY BOOK GOALS OF 2018: HOW DID I DO?

Hello friends and happy Friday!

Even though Christmas was a few days ago, I still want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and I hope you all had a great holiday! So, 2018 is finally coming to an end and at the beginning of the year, I had set out a few personal goals for myself. And what would be better than looking back on those goals and seeing if I accomplished them or not? I thought it was a pretty good idea myself. I know that there were a couple goals that I truly wanted to accomplish and have been doing everything in my power to do so, but then there were also ones where I just never thought about doing. It’ll be interesting to see how it all ended up playing out so let’s get into it!

GOAL #1: READ 100 BOOKS

I’m SO close to completing this goal! I’ve read 99 out of 100 books and I’m in the middle of my final book so hopefully later today or tomorrow I’ll be able to say that I’ve officially completed this goal. I struggled a lot trying to do this, what with all I had going on this year, but I picked myself up near the end and I’m so close I can feel it.

GOAL #2: READ OUTSIDE OF YA LIT

Yeah…..this didn’t really work out the way I wanted it to. I tried reading The Secret History but I wasn’t really feeling it at the time and then put it on hold and never went back to it. The same thing happened with Deathless. There’s just something about Adult Lit that can never capture me the way YA does. But I did read Then She Was Gone, which is an Adult Lit book so there’s that! And it was really good! But yeah, my heart is definitely in YA.

GOAL #3: READ ALL OF JLA’S BOOKS

I DID THIS. I read all of Jennifer L. Armentrout’s officially released, full length books. I honestly can’t believe I can go around and be like “ah, yes, I’ve read all of my favourite author’s books.” This is one accomplishment I’ll always be proud of.

GOAL #4: BUY PHYSICAL COPIES OF FAVOURITE EBOOKS

So this was like a so-so goal. I bought some of my eBooks in physical copy, but not all. I managed to find a couple in store, like Be With Me and the rest of The Royals series, and found the Covenant series online (which I actually got for Christmas and they’re so pretty!!) but I didn’t track down the ones I wanted most. But it’s not a big deal to me right now because of goal #5.

GOAL #5: BUY A NEW BOOKCASE

I tried, and tried, and tried to get a new bookcase. I begged my parents. My mom was totally cool but my dad has something against buying new things or something, I don’t know. But the current bookcase is still full and I’ve started pulling off books that I didn’t love and started stacking them next to the bookcase…..and now that pile is almost as tall as the case itself. Oh, and then there’s the shelf for all my NA romances and the other shelf for my TBR books. I have no idea what to do with all my books anymore.

GOAL #6: READ THE OLDEST BOOKS ON MY TBR

Ah, yet another goal that just did not happen. However, I do own some of these books, like Heartless, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, and I just got Grave Mercy, aka the oldest book on my list for Christmas, so these books will be read eventually. I just can’t tell you when that’ll happen. But it will. Maybe.

I’m gonna be positive and say that I did pretty well with my goals this year! Even ones that were complete fails did have some thought in them and isn’t that what really matters most? I’m still trying to figure out what my goals for 2019 will be but I’m hoping for another great year!

Until next time,

  1. I am all about buying print books of e-books that I love. I usually buy a humble bundle every year, and out of the 6 or 8 e-books that comes in it, I usually end up buying print books of at least one. I’m kinda a book-aholic?
