Hello friends and happy Friday!

I’m gonna try to get through writing this post without falling asleep since I’ve been up for a very long time! Whoever decided 8am classes should be a thing deserves to be cursed. That’s all. Anyways, I have been thinking about this week’s character nonstop today and I was actually worried I’d already picked them. But it turns out I haven’t so we can still shower them with love! This character is so near and dear to my heart, one that I always keep in the back of my mind because of how truly wonderful they are. They are from a relatively underrated series, at least where this author is concerned, but also kind of in YA overall. I just really love this character and you all should too.

This week’s character is…

*drum roll*

Aiden St. Delphi!

If you haven’t read Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Covenant series, you really should, then you might not know Aiden. But if you’ve been reading my blog then you might already know of him either from reviews or other random posts. Anyways, my boy Aiden St. Delphi is the main love interest for this series’s protagonist, Alex Andros, and he is the most beautiful, sweetest, most respectful male love interest I’ve ever laid eyes on. A basic fact about Covenant is the idea that people are descendants from Greek gods and demi-gods, and have elemental powers, and those that do not. The ones that do are known as pures, and Aiden is a pretty strong pure. He has the ability to control the fire element and was also trained to be a sentinel, which is kind of like a guard of sorts that protects people from daimons. So, if it wasn’t clear, Aiden is a bit of a badass. But he’s a nice and gentle badass, especially where Alex is concerned. The thing though is that any kind of relationship them is forbidden, since he’s a pure and she’s a half, but the reason is one that was basically hidden from the world and you’ll have to read the series to find that out. So Aiden had to push his feelings for Alex way, way down inside of him and was more concerned about her life and safety than his own. And that’s why we respect and love Aiden as the best YA love interest. Aiden would never do anything to jeopardize Alex’s life and put her directly into danger just so he could give into his own selfish feelings, mainly because he wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he did, seeing as the halfs (like Alex) are the ones who are punished if caught with a pure, while Aiden would be fine. Additionally, he had to care and essentially parent his younger brother and be a strong pillar of support for him, which was harder on Aiden than you’d imagine. I love how Aiden comes off as this stoic, unbreakable badass but is incredibly soft and supportive for Alex and would do anything to keep her and his brother safe. I need to reread this series again soon because I miss Alex and Aiden so much.
